All-electric upgrades in the Dandenongs

We spoke with Cardinia residents, Rick and Donna, after they replaced their gas heating and hot water systems with efficient, electric heat pump units.

Retired and living in their small, three-bedroom brick home in the Dandenong Ranges, Rick and Donna were looking for a more environmentally friendly way to heat their home and their water.

While Rick and Donna are careful with their energy usage, they also keep themselves comfortable – using their heater from the morning through to the evening when needed. They also concentrate their main electricity usage to the middle of the day to make the most of their solar panels.

Recognising that both their hot water and heating systems were aging, and finding that government rebates are available to households upgrading to more efficient systems, Rick and Donna attended an information session hosted by Solar Savers at their local library to explore their options further.

“The team were so pleasant, informative, helpful and with a quote that came in within our budget, we decided to make the switch.”

“The installation was near seamless. We were kept in touch at each step and on the day the workers were timely, pleasant, and cleaned up after themselves. They offered clear instruction on how the different systems worked”

Rick and Donna were pleased with their experience, noting that their consultant followed-up, ensuring that they were satisfied with the outcome and answered any questions they had.

“We were very impressed with how well it met our needs and how easily it integrated into our home.”

“Our home is warm and the systems, both water and heater/cooler, work efficiently and quietly.”

Following the upgrade, Rick and Donna are looking forward to not paying so much in gas. What’s next? The gas oven and cooktop are in their sights, further enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of their home.
