Stonnington – Energy Insights subsidy
What is this subsidy?
City of Stonnington’s Energy Insights subsidy offers a discounted home energy assessment to all residential properties located in Stonnington.
- 75% discount for concession card holders and defined priority communities (approx. out-of-pocket cost $145)
- 50% discount for all other households (approx. out-of-pocket cost $290)
What is a home energy assessment?
Whether you rent or own your home, a home energy assessment helps you understand how to make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and cheaper to run.
An home energy assessor will visit your home to:
- Examine your home’s structure and fixed appliances (e.g. insulation, hot water system, etc).
- Assess the energy efficiency of your home.
- Provide a detailed report tailored to your needs with practical tips and recommended upgrades — such as:
- Draught proofing
- Adding or topping up insulation
- Switching to more efficient electric appliances
- Adding solar panels or batteries
Assessors can also connect you with trusted Solar Savers suppliers who can give you quotes for these upgrades.
Whether you want to cut your bills, go all‑electric, or just make your home more comfortable, a home energy assessment provides you with clear pathways to achieve your goals.
Who is it for?
The Energy Insights subsidy is open to all Stonnington residents and homeowners.
One (1) discounted home energy assessment per residential property located in Stonnington is available. The property must not have had a Residential Efficiency Scorecard assessment completed on it in the previous 5 years.
Council discounts apply to residential homes only. You cannot get a Scorecard assessment in a home that shares heating, ventilation and air conditioning with other dwellings.
To be eligible for a 75% discount you must:
Hold one of the following concession cards:
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card for all conditions
- Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card War Widow/er or TPI
- Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card POW & EDA
OR
Identify as one or more of the defined priority communities listed below:
- Lower-income households: Households that do not exceed the moderate income range (annual, before tax) in line with the income ranges in the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
- People living with disability
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) households who use a language other than English at home.
- Community housing residents (this does not include public housing owned by the Victorian Government)
- First Peoples communities
- Older residents, 65+ years old
- Apartment residents
- Renters

Please do not complete the general Solar Savers registration form. We will contact you with next steps after we assess your application.
