You are not eligible for the Merri-bek low-income subsidy, however, you can still have solar installed through Solar Savers selected supplier, Specialized Solar and Electrical

The Solar Savers program is for the installation of solar PV systems on existing properties. Please contact us again when your new home is near completion.

You may be eligible for Manningham Council's Solar Subsidy program. This Subsidy program will provide eligible residents a subsidy of up to $2,000 (ex GST) towards the cost of their solar systems.
To be eligible for one of these $2,000 (ex GST) subsidies, you must have a pension card and install via Solar Savers.

If you are aware of any heritage or planning restrictions on your property, we recommend contacting your local council to determine if a permit is required to install solar.

Our installers are unable to fit solar PV systems on cathedral ceilings. If there is a part of your roof that is not cathedral style you may be able to have panels installed. Our installers will need to determine the suitability of your roof. If you do not know whether your roof has cathedral ceilings, please change your response to unsure, and continue with the form. We also need to know when you use your electricity most. Are you home all day or do you use most of your electricity at night? With Solar PV, It’s best to use the generated power during the day (or use it to charge a storage battery) rather than export it to the grid.

Manningham Council are offering a limited number of subsidies to households wanting to install a battery. The subsidy is worth $2,000 (ex GST) and is available to Manningham residents who purchase a battery through the Solar Savers program. This subsidy can also be applied to households who are wanting to add a battery to their existing solar panel system, and it can be used in conjunction with the State Government interest free loan valued at $8,800 if the property is eligible and has not previously received a solar PV or battery rebate. Please note that the current batteries offered via the Solar Savers program cost are approximately $11,015 and $16,400 incl GST and STCs. This means, after the council subsidy and State government loan (if eligible), the upfront cost of a battery could be approximately between $215 and $5,545 incl GST. The Solar Victoria battery loan repayments are a four-year commitment of up to $183.34 each month

Merri-bek City Council are helping low income households reduce cost of living pressures. Council may provide financial support towards the cost of your solar system. Note: The current round of funding has now closed. New funding will re-open in July 2023. There are 50 subsidised places available in the 2023-24 financial year.
